Promoting participatory and community-led research, recognizing people - particularly those from hardto-reach, marginalized, and socially excluded communities not merely as research subjects but as producers of knowledge and active agents of change. RIB works to strengthen the capacity, voice, agency, and participation of citizens and communities to claim and exercise their rights and entitlements. It advances transparency, accountability, and access to information through the Right to Information (RTI) and other social accountability mechanisms, while promoting gender equality, women’s and girls’ rights and leadership, diversity, social cohesion, and peaceful coexistence. RIB also works with marginalized, excluded, and vulnerable communities to identify and address barriers to public services, children’s education, social protection, and meaningful participation in decision-making. RIB generates evidence and locally grounded knowledge to inform policy, practice, and public discourse, and facilitates dialogue and advocacy at local, national, and relevant international levels. It builds partnerships among communities, civil society organizations, researchers, public institutions, and other stakeholders to strengthen collective action and promote sustainable social change. Through this approach, RIB seeks to connect community knowledge, research, rights, and action in ways that contribute to more inclusive, equitable, accountable, and responsive governance and development.
